UP and down…

Last Monday, (3rd August 2020) I felt well, so well that I walked over two-and-a-half miles. Tuesday I felt low, so sat most of the day reading. Wednesday, the essential tremors I struggle with made me so tired I stayed in bed till the middle of the afternoon. Thursday, I managed to make a broccoli-cauliflower salad for our Hillsong connect group. Friday was another day of listlessness and spongy muscles. In a sentence, last week was a bust. No writing, no walking, just tiredness.
Today I determined that I would post a blog entry.
Here’s the latest progress on the book. I am using Grammarly to proofread and do that last bit of line-editing. I’m about half-way through the manuscript. I am looking to launch it on Monday, 7th September. I might put it on Amazon before that—depending on how long it takes me to finish the proofreading.
Angelee’s Dilemma is my first book. The theme is finding direction when facing a new season in life. Angelee is a young woman coming of age in 1917, as America is drawn into World War 1. Finishing her high school years, Angelee finds herself asking, “What do I do now? What is my purpose?” As she seeks those answers, she also must learn how to discern and govern her emotions; including handling the attentions of two young men.
The initial idea for the story came to me in 1994 when I attended a three-month course for writing. I wrote it because of those times of asking “Now what?” a universal experience for people. It may be when a person is young, a natural time of exploring and discovering. For others, it may be when goals have been accomplished, and it is time to re-evaluate and reset the direction of their work and relationships. By showing how Angelee learns to hear God’s voice, and find her life’s calling, I hope it will help other people find answers for themselves.
I will soon be sharing more about the history of Martinsville, Indiana, where the story takes place. A lot has changed in the last 100 years. It’s changed lots since I first moved to the city on 1st January 1970!
