Our story begins with Daystar Christian Ministries, who moved into Martinsville, Indiana in 1975. It was a cold, snowy winter and I remember making friends with many people who came to live in the large, former sanatorium.
I don’t remember my first encounter with Rhoda Joy. But I do remember it was 1980, and that I connected very quickly with her—even though she was eleven years younger than me. I guess you could say we are kindred spirits.
Our friendship has spanned over 40 years. We’ve managed to stay best friends; despite our differences, regardless of the distance of the Atlantic Ocean between us and the significant changes in technology that has made our communication easier.
Rhoda has had her share of trauma—and several other’s too, I’m sure. The inner core of her mind and spirit posses a drive, determination to overcome the many challenges she has endured.
On 31st January 2022, Rhoda underwent surgery to remove an artificial disc from her lower spine. This is her 4th back surgery. But that was just the beginning of the healing process.
